Privacy policy
The short version: your microphone audio never leaves your device, we don't sell anything or anyone, and we collect as little as possible. Here are the details.
Last updated: June 2026. BANDROOM.GAMES ("we," "us") makes free music-practice games at bandroom.games and in our mobile app. This policy explains what we collect and your choices.
Your microphone
Several games listen through your microphone to detect the notes you play or sing. That audio is analyzed live, on your own device, to figure out the pitch. It is never recorded, stored, sent to us, or uploaded anywhere. When you close the game, it's gone. The app and site ask for microphone permission only for this, and only while you're playing a mic-based game.
What we collect
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which games are played and how the site performs, in aggregate. This may use cookies and a random identifier. We don't use it to identify you personally, and we don't run advertising.
- Leaderboard entries. If you choose to save a high score, we store the initials/name and score you type in — nothing else, and it isn't linked to your identity.
- Newsletter. If you sign up, we store your email address and your confirmation that you're 13+ with a parent or guardian's permission. The list is managed by our email provider (Buttondown). You can unsubscribe anytime from any email.
- Contact form. If you message us or suggest a game, we keep the name, email, and message you send so we can read and reply.
- On-device settings & your Practice Pet. Small preferences (like your tuner view) and, in the app, your Practice Pet (its name, levels, and progress) are stored only on your device. This stays on the device; we never receive it. The app may let your device back it up through your own Apple (iCloud) or Google account so your pet survives a phone upgrade — that backup is handled by Apple/Google, not by us, and still never comes to our servers.
- Reminders (app only). If you turn on a daily practice reminder, it is scheduled on your device and is off by default and parent-gated. There is no push server and we are not notified — your device simply reminds you.
No advertising or tracking
We show no ads, and we don't use advertising networks, ad identifiers (like Apple's IDFA), or cross-app/cross-site tracking. We don't sell or share personal information, and there are no third-party ad or marketing SDKs in our app.
Children's privacy
Our games are made for students, including kids, so we're careful: the app and games work without any account or login; microphone audio is never stored; your Practice Pet stays on your own device; and there is no advertising. The newsletter is intended for ages 13+ and asks for a parent or guardian's permission. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and want us to remove information about your child, email us (below) and we'll take care of it.
Who we share with
We don't sell your data. We use a few trusted services to run the site: Google Analytics (usage analytics), Buttondown (newsletter delivery), and DreamHost (hosting). Each handles data under its own privacy terms. That's it.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep submissions and signups only as long as useful, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time. Unsubscribe links remove you from the newsletter immediately. To request deletion of a contact message or leaderboard entry, just reach out.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above. Big changes will be noted on the site.
