Medium (about 75 words)
BANDROOM.GAMES is a free arcade of retro games that make music practice fun. Students play a real instrument or sing into the mic, and the game hears their notes: blast alien ships by playing the right pitch, fly by singing, climb a tower by holding a note in tune. There are also games for note reading, rhythm, scales and solfège, plus a tuner and metronome. No logins, no ads, and it works on school Chromebooks.
Newsletter (about 150 words)
Looking for a way to get students practicing between lessons? BANDROOM.GAMES is a free collection of retro arcade games that students play with their real instrument or their voice. The microphone listens to what they play: in Brass Blaster, each alien ship carries a note name, and students blast it by playing that note on their trumpet, trombone, sax or other horn (transposition is handled automatically). Singers can steer a ship with their voice in Glide or climb Tuning Tower by holding a note in tune. Other games cover note reading in treble and bass clef, rhythm values, band scales and solfège hand signs, plus a free tuner and metronome. Teachers can make a free class page with the games they choose and print a QR code poster for the band room. It's all free, with no logins or ads, and it runs in any browser, including school Chromebooks: bandroom.games

The story
“My son plays trombone and my daughter is in choir, so we built BANDROOM.GAMES. We wanted practice to feel more like playing a game and less like a chore, and we wanted it to be free for every student and every band room.”
— Alon Goren, creator
